What you need from the florist:

Per-table prices are multiplied by this.

For the high case: tables added before the florist's change deadline.

Starts with the two examples from our flower cost guide: an itemized $6,400 quote, with its $2,700 reception designs shown as twelve tables at a made-up $225 each, and a "full floral design" for $5,900. We read the $5,900 as covering the designs, and the guide leaves its rentals, delivery, and teardown unanswered. Neither lists fees or tax yet. Enter your own.

The added tables use only a per-table price the florist states, before any tax or service charge on them. A package or single centerpiece price can't tell you what more tables cost, so ask.

This compares what each proposal charges for the plan you ticked. A lower total only means a better deal when both list the same pieces, sizes, and flowers. Check the item counts and substitution terms in writing.

Quick answer

Wedding flower cost: The Knot says $2,800 for flowers, Zola $6,345 for flowers and décor

The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study, a survey of couples married in 2025, puts the average spent on flowers at $2,800. Zola's 2026 cost guide lists $6,345 for its combined Flowers & Décor category, with a typical range of $5,100 to $7,600. One counts flowers alone and the other adds décor, so keep them apart, and don't read either as a florist-only price for your wedding.

Your own number comes from the florist's written proposal: the pieces, their size, the flowers, the vessels and rentals, and who delivers, sets up, moves, and clears everything.

Centerpiece math

Centerpieces by table count

When a florist prices centerpieces per table, the line is the per-table price times your tables. These are multiplication examples, not market prices. $225 is the made-up example allowance from our flower cost guide.

Centerpiece line at three per-table prices
Tables$100 per table$225 per table$350 per table
8$800$1,800$2,800
10$1,000$2,250$3,500
12$1,200$2,700$4,200
15$1,500$3,375$5,250
20$2,000$4,500$7,000
25$2,500$5,625$8,750

Real pricing may not rise evenly: vessels, flower varieties, labor, or a minimum can change it. Ask the florist how a late change in table count is priced and by when you must confirm it.

The calculation method

Same plan, then every charge.

Design package + personal flowers + ceremony pieces + centerpieces + other reception pieces + rentals + delivery and setup + teardown and pickup + required fees and tax + other extras = full cost

  1. A design package is a single price for several pieces. Tick each line it covers. Enter $0 if the florist prices every piece on its own.
  2. Centerpieces can be priced per table, which the calculator multiplies by your table count, or as one amount.
  3. Open lines stay open. A blank price for a line you need is never counted as $0, and neither quote is called cheaper until both are complete.
  4. The high case adds the tables you might add, using only a per-table price the florist states.

The starting numbers combine the two examples in our flower cost guide. Quote A is its itemized example: personal flowers $900, ceremony pieces $1,500, reception designs $2,700, rentals $400, delivery and setup $600, and teardown $300, so $6,400 before fees and tax. We show the $2,700 as the guide's other example, twelve tables at a made-up $225 allowance, so three more tables add $675. Quote B is the guide's "full floral design" for $5,900. It looks $500 cheaper, but its rentals, delivery, and teardown are still open.

What a florist quote should list

  • Item counts and sizes for every piece, by location.
  • Which flowers are fixed and which can be substituted.
  • Vessels, stands, and candles, and who owns them.
  • Delivery, setup, and moving pieces between rooms.
  • Teardown, pickup, and late-return or damage charges.
  • The deadline and price for changing quantities.
  • Service charges, minimums, tax, retainer, and payment dates.

What this leaves out

  • Décor from other vendors, such as linens or lighting.
  • Whether the designs match the look you want.

Questions about wedding flower cost

How much do wedding flowers cost?

The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study puts the average spent on flowers at $2,800. Zola's 2026 cost guide lists $6,345 for its combined Flowers & Décor category, typically $5,100 to $7,600. The two measure different things, so neither is a florist-only price for your wedding. Your quote depends on the pieces, sizes, flowers, setup, and rentals you choose.

How do I work out the cost of centerpieces?

If the florist prices centerpieces per table, multiply that price by your reception tables. Our flower cost guide's example is twelve tables at a made-up $225 allowance each, $2,700. If the floor plan grows to fifteen tables, the line becomes $3,375. Not every florist prices per piece, and vessels or minimums can change the math, so ask how a late change in table count is priced.

What should a florist quote include?

Item counts and sizes for personal flowers, ceremony pieces, and reception pieces, plus vessels and rentals, delivery, setup, moving pieces between rooms, teardown, pickup, service charges, and tax. Ask which flowers can be substituted and who approves it.

Can I count an unlisted delivery or setup fee as zero?

Not until the florist confirms it is included or free. The calculator keeps a blank line open and does not call either quote cheaper until each line you need has an answer.

Is a "full floral design" price cheaper than an itemized quote?

Only once it covers the same quantities, sizes, rentals, transfers, and teardown. In our guide's example, a $5,900 design price looks lower than a $6,400 itemized quote until you ask what it leaves out.
